Prince William will join the critical Cop30 in the South American nation next month, but the prime minister's participation is still unconfirmed.
The Prince will present the global environmental award and take part in the gathering of delegates from in excess of 190 countries in Belém.
Environmental experts praised the prince's involvement. An environmental strategist noted that it would boost what is anticipated to be a challenging conference, where global agreement on fresh goals for lowering climate pollutants is essential.
"Is Prince William presence at Cop a publicity move? Yes. But that doesn't mean it's a poor decision," she remarked. "The summit has often been as much about so-called 'optics' as it is about talks. The Prince's announcement will likely inspire other delegates to participate, and will draw international press."
"I believe HRH knows very well that by participating, he'll attract millions of viewers to the conference. In an period when global warming consequences are increasing, but news reporting is declining, anything that draws attention should be welcomed."
The monarch has attended previous UN summits, but will not participate in Cop30.
A leader from a sustainability organization commented: "Everyone must contribute – and any influential person like Prince William, present supporting make the case for the complex work that must be done, is likely a beneficial move."
"The monarch] was in his previous role when he participated in the Glasgow summit and helped to galvanise negotiations. I don't believe it necessarily requires the prince and the king to participate."
The PM has yet to announce whether they will attend the summit, to which all world leaders are asked, with scores set to attend. He was heavily criticised by leading sustainability leaders for seeming hesitant on the choice recently.
"World leaders need to be in Brazil for the climate conference. Participation is not a courtesy, it is a measure of commitment. This is the opportunity to secure enhanced national commitments and the finance to implement them, especially for resilience" to the impacts of the global warming.
"International observers is paying attention, and history will record who showed up."
